Adriana is one of the most influential Colombians because despite coming from a country where education and science are boosted, she decided to go ahead and get to work at NASA. Her pillars she built fighting, nothing was free. She started as a volunteer and after a hard work she was able to begin to materialize her dreams.
Adriana is proof that dreams can be fulfilled no matter where you come from, no matter what your race, skin color or gender. It is an example for many women, because it proves once again that changes are possible, even in a generation where gender equality remains difficult.

Portal 4: What is her house like?


Adriana works at NASA, she has an office where her computer is, her desk and her favorite books. She has a coffee machine next to a window in front of the desk. Next to the door there is a sofa on which she can rest when she has lunch in the office. She also has a table on a blue carpet with the inscription NASA, on the table there are magazines and articles published by NASA. Adriana likes to read those articles.
The house of Adriana in California is on the outskirts of the city, it is a one-story house. The house has three bedrooms, a master bedroom where she sleeps, and two rooms for her family. The house has a large American style kitchen, three private bathrooms and one auxiliary one. The house has a living room and a dining room. The garden of the house is large, Adriana has roses and lilies planted in her garden.

She wakes up early at 5 am and ends up getting ready at 6 am, At 7 am she begins his journey to arrive at 8 am NASA, at 1 pm goes out to eat something and returns  at 2 pm. She works in her missions till around 5 p.m. At 5:30 pm she always gets a coofe and go home at 6 p.m. Whe she gets home, takes a bath, at  7 p.m.,She likes to  talk with her family and friends about her day in NASA, or sometimes she reads a little, at 9 p.m., she eats something, at 10 pm she does some complementary activities for her house, and  about 11 pm she goes to sleep.

Adriana has brown hair, her skin is white and her eyes are brown. Her hair is straight and short. Adriana measures around 1.67 cm, she needs to wear glasses to be able to see correctly. Adriana has a small mouth and a beautiful smile. She is a happy and dedicated person in her work, she has dreams to fulfill and she works to reach them. One of her biggest dreams was working at NASA, which she got after volunteering there. Adriana is a very intelligent and creative person, she looks for a solution to problems and likes to work as a team. She is a person who has taken the name of Colombia up.

For her family she is a very valuable member since she has managed to reach far with her effort and dedication. Her colleagues describe Adriana as a responsible woman, a woman of principles, loyal, and hard-working.

Adriana C. Ocampo (born 1955) is a Colombian planetary geologist and the Science Program Manager at NASA Headquarters. Her research contributed to the understanding of the Chicxulub impact crater. She has led six research expeditions to the Chicxulub impact site and worked on the Juno and New Horizons mission. In 1996, Ocampo and her colleagues discovered the Aorounga Crater Chain in Chad

Early life and education

Adriana Christian Ocampo was born on January 5, 1955, in Barranquilla, Colombia. Her family moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina before her first birthday and then to Pasadena, California, in 1970, when she was 15.
Ocampo earned her B.S. degree in Geology from California State University, Los Angeles in 1983. She earned her M.S. degree in Planetary Geology from California State University, Northridge in 1997 and she finished her Ph.D. at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam in The Netherlands.


Awards and honors

Ocampo received the Woman of the Year Award in Science from the Comisión Femenil in Los Angeles in 1992. She also received the Advisory Council for Women Award at JPL in 1996 and the Science and Technology Award from the Chicano Federation in 1997.
In 2002, Ocampo was named one of the 50 Most Important Women in Science by Discover Magazine.
Asteroid 177120 Ocampo Uría, discovered by Marc Buie at the Kitt Peak National Observatory in 2003, was named after her. The official naming citation was published by the Minor Planet Center on 11 July 2018 (M.P.C. 110637).

Career
Ocampo began her career in planetary science first as a volunteer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) during high school and during the summer and throughout college as an employee. She has worked on a number of NASA planetary science projects, including the Juno mission to Jupiter, the New Horizons mission to Pluto, and the OSIRIS-Rex asteroid sample return mission. She is also the lead scientist responsible for NASA's collaboration with the European Space Agency's Venus Express mission and the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency's Venus Climate Orbiter mission.
In 2010 she wrote the Spanish-language educational publication “El Mundo de Copocuqu: La Reina Gravedad y El Rey Masa” (NASA NP-2010-03-647-HQ)
